Wild Blossom wins on debut at Carlisle by 10 lengths giving huge Royal Ascot clue

Karl Burke could have a Royal Ascot favourite on his hands after Wild Blossom bolted up at Carlisle, winning by 10 lengths on debut.

Fascinating Wild Blossom Debut Produces Royal Ascot Pointer

Karl Burke is known for training solid two-year-olds and WILD BLOSSOM produced an astounding debut at Carlisle on Monday afternoon.

Wild Blossom wasn’t fancied too much in the market ahead of debut, with the punters backing main market rival Crownbreaker, who made a promising first start at Newmarket on Guineas weekend.

But the Wathnan Racing filly was much the best, looking very classy on her first start.

She was a 300,000gns purchase from the Tatts Craven Breeze-Up at Newmarket in April and she did everything right on debut. You can see her breathtaking performance below.

Burke also won that race last season with Venetian Sun, who went on to win at Royal Ascot on her second start. She also won a French Group 1 last August, beating subsequent Breeders’ Cup winner Gstaad.

Royal Ascot Surely Next For Wild Blossom

With Wild Blossom winning the same race at Carlisle as last year’s Albany winner and stable mate Venetian Sun, that 6f contest at Royal Ascot could be on the horizon.

However, racing fans on Twitter (now known as X) seem to think that the Queen Mary could be her next race.

The Albany, won by Venetian Run is over 6f and the Queen Mary is over 5f, and the way in which she won at Carlisle suggested she would have no problem going up in trip.

However, if she was to stay at 5f, then the Queen Mary would be the race for her.

Last year’s Queen Mary was won by True Love, who went on to win the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier this month.

But the Albany shouldn’t be ruled out given Wild Blossom’s trainer won it last year with Venetian Sun.
